Examples of activities since retirement

Advising our Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the proposal in response on its tender for the € 200 million Soil Fertility Grant Program, a 10 years support of countries in West-, East and Central Africa to improve and maintain their soil fertility. On invitation, I participated in a brainstorming event in Nairobi of the Afrikan Union, aiming to develop ideas for an African Action plan on Soil Health, fertilizers and agricultural production, being the topic of a conference of African  heads of Governments in 2023. As member of the technical working group I contributed afterwards to the report Fertilizer and Soil Health in Africa: The Role of Fertilizer in Building Soil Health to Sustain Farming and Address Climate Change”. Rogier van den Brink, a retired World Bank expert, interviewd me about Agricultural Development in Africa.  It is part of a podcast of a series of 5 interviews about similar subjects.

My last book:From fed by the world to food security. Accelerating agricultural development in Africa“. Requested by the journal Fertilizer Focus, I wrote an article about the book: “Africa: A one hundred million tonne market?”.
